Garden
styles
are many and varied, so here I'd like to take you on a journey
around some which have inspired me. Woodland
Gardens with viburnums, dogwoods, rhododendrons,
camellias and Japanese maples vying for attention amidst
carpets of bluebells, starry ransoms, hellebores, and ferns;
Quarry Gardens with
shimmering grasses and giant alliums, mulleins, spurges
and sea hollies; Cutting Gardens
with their fanfare of colour in the form of astrantias,
evening primrose, heleniums, coneflowers and blazing star
flowers; Bog Gardens with
gunnera, bamboo, darmera and rodgersia - architectural plants
which add drama to the lower storey underplanting of irises,
daylilies, ligularia, hostas, and camassia; Courtyard
gardens brimful of herbs, with houseleeks and
stonecrop spilling out of stone walls. |
